2025 Recap
Well, I’m a bit behind on this “2025 recap,” but these days it seems I’m always behind or running late for something! Trying to keep up with music, mom life, a new renovation project in our house, and managing another pregnancy (yes! I’m pregnant again!) definitely keeps me busy!
Despite how fast things are moving these days, I wanted to take the time to look back on 2025, and share about some exciting things ahead (both personally and professionally). Even if nobody reads these posts, I like to have a little archive for myself!
2025 started off with a new baby entering our family! Eliza was born in January and she brought so much joy to our lives.
I didn’t have much time to relax postpartum because in February, I began preparing for my April show, “Stand Still with ANNIKA” at the Bella Concert Hall. All the preparation was worth it because I got to share the stage with amazing musicians (including a string quartet!), tell stories about the songs on the Stand Still record, debut new songs that hadn’t been released yet, showcase and sell my first vinyl record (!!) and most importantly, see friends, family, and fans that have supported my work for so long. It was truly a night to remember! I think the most stressful part was trying to find a babysitter for 3 kids for the night!
We also had some great success at satellite radio in 2025. “Never on Fire” reached No. 1 on SiriusXM’s “Top of the Country” station and I am so grateful to everyone at SiriusXM who continues to support my music!
In the summer, I was busy making music videos for upcoming releases. I took over a laundromat in Calgary for a few hours for my first single off the new album and it’s one of my favourite music videos to date. The song is called, “Don’t Get You a Man” and you can check out the video HERE.
I was busy during Stampede performing at “Bar 1912” where I got to revisit my roots as a piano bar entertainer and sing my favourite covers from every decade as well as share original music with listeners. In addition to daily performances on the grounds, I also spent one morning recording a music video for an upcoming duet with the legendary Carolyn Dawn Johnson at the National Music Centre. This duet was written many years ago, and I am so glad that it finally made it out into the world. You can check out “Forever Changed” HERE.
I made a quick trip to Kelowna with my manager, Mel for CCMA week and got to combine two of my favourite things - music and wine, when I got to perform at the “Women in Music” showcase at “Frind Estate Winery”. I also made the most of my time there and did a photoshoot for some upcoming events and music releases with one of my favourite photographers in B.C, Carey Stevens!
It’s not often Mel and I end up in the same place at the same time as Carla and Kym from my booking agency, FAME Group Agency, so it felt like a total treat that we got to enjoy a lovely brunch together.
My last big show of the year was when I co-headlined a “Stampede City Session” alongside Morgan Klaiber in October. Again, I got to share the stage with some of my favourite musicians and was thrilled to share new music with a new audience.
In January, I got to spend a week in Dominican Republic with my amazing manager and friend, Mel Vautour! We were celebrating FIVE YEARS of working together and all the things we’ve achieved together as a small (but mighty!) team. We read books, chatted, laid by the beach, enjoyed the pool, and were in bed every night by 9:00 PM. It was the perfect vacation for the two of us! Of course, it’s pretty much impossible for the two of us to do all play and no work, so we DID end up shooting a music video there as well for an upcoming summer single…stay tuned for that!
Looking ahead, I’ve got a lot to be excited about: a new baby arriving in July, two new singles and an EP (EEK!) rolling out over the next eight months, and the lovely ladies at FAME Group Agency currently routing an Alberta tour for January 2027. WOW!
As usual, I feel so fortunate to be building a family and my career at the same time. I cannot wait for the new adventures ahead and thank you all for supporting me each year as new music and performance opportunities are announced! I appreciate it more than you know!
